Importance of Spirituality and Gratitude

It is so unfortunate that we have to go through what we are going through now. I don’t want to write about CORONA or the affects it has on us , health wise , economically and what not . Internet is flooding with CORONA details and I want to take a break from it. And this article was triggered ofcourse due to the happenings around us. Let us take a step back and just talk about how important it is to be spiritual and be thankful of what we have.

I am a hard core believer of Almighty, a higher power that exists. And I do believe, all the things I have in my life is ‘HIS BLESSINGS’. I know this is such a controversial topic but just would like to pen down my view.

Being spiritual is very important in your life to be contained, to have a meaning and purpose in life, to be positive. With all negativity in the world, it is very important to keep yourself positive and spread positivity to the people connected to you and around you.

What matters the most in the end is Spiritual Connections rather than Wordly-things around you. Below are a few things you can do to be spiritual and show gratitude. Gratitude and Spirituality go hand in hand.

Read Holy Books

You will be surprised seeing some of the quotes in the ‘Book of Revelation’. You can relate to a lot of things happening in this world reading this book.

And if you want a simple handbook for prayers, Psalms it is. My favorite chapter in Psalms is Psalm 91 – A prayer for protection. ”He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of almighty’. Such a powerful sentence.

If you are a believer of other holy books like Quran, Vedas,Tripitaka etc.. , take some time to read it.

Again, I have not finished reading even half of the Bible. But I want to. Let us see how it goes.

If you do not own a bible, you can buy one in amazon if you want.

Aim for a good Eternal life

I believe in eternal life and I do believe the things that your do here on earth, does reflect on how your eternal life would be. To achieve a good eternal life, do good, do not harm others. And god’s grace would flow on you. And believe in almighty.

Conduct Family Prayers Everyday

Ok, so you might think, ok is this girl crazy to tell me to have a family prayer everyday? Trust me, 2 years back, I didnt have family prayers everyday at my home or even if I have it would be for name’s sake(I did do family prayers with my parents back in the day everyday which I was not so happy about, but now I do believe that the blessings that I have now is definitely because of all those prayers and constant prayers that my parents do for me.).

After Norah was born, I had my parents visit me here to help me with Norah (for 6 months and then my MIL came in). So ofcourse one of the main agenda in their daily life is ‘Evening Prayers’. So we continued that and till now we do evening prayers. And trust me that has given me a lot of peacefulness, patience, ability to forgive etc.. Also, it is good for our kids to learn that from us. To build a responsible and good future generation, it is a must to teach them about spirituality too as our parents showed us.

Meditate

Take this time for yourself and re-think of your purpose to this world. I sometimes really think what is my purpose in this world. What is gods plan for me? We all human beings do tend to lean towards the materialistic joy including me. And it is really difficult to re-focus to the meaning of life. You don’t have to do this everyday, but once in a week or so, sit down and write down positive things that you can do to this world. It don’t need to be anything big. Start with small things.

Do some planting, Enjoy nature, Water your plants

Love yourself, Make someone happy (you can only make others happy if you are). Make them laugh. Show compassion.

You can start from here to helping people – financial or non-financial helps.

Gratitude

Most importantly, be gratitude. Be Gratitude to god for all the blessing he has given you. As human beings, we tend to complain more than showing gratitude for what we have (including me). But it is best to make conscious effort to show gratitude for the things that you have (that if you think about it many people around the world doesn’t have, not even the basic necessities). You can also show gratitude to people around you who have helped you. You can show gratitude by giving. I am glad to see that many corporate company’s are doing ‘Give Back’ which is such a nice gesture.

Teach your kids to show gratitude as well. I am learning this myself.

With that being said, let me take a moment here to show gratitude to those who has read my posts and who will be reading my post hereafter. A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL

Much Love

  2. Very good points! I am a believer for sure and I do try to do most of these every day, of course I am not perfectly consistent. But thank you for the reminder of how important all of these simple things are!

  3. Totally agree – especially at the moment, it’s so easy to be sucked down to a lower vibration. I have just started meditation and a gratitude practise!

  4. Yes, I think gratitude is key. My friend has just come out of a coma after being on a ventilator in ICU with Covid-19 and it’s easy to get down. We just kept fasting, praying and focusing on everything we were (and are) grateful for. It’s kept our spirits up and enabled us to be in a position to help my friend’s wife and son who were self-isolating. Sometimes we can forget that we need to be strong for others as well as ourselves and I think gratitude is a big part of that strength.

  5. I’ve really found myself being grateful for everything that I have, from a grocery store full of food to a car to visit family. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that we’ll all come out of this appreciating things more.

  6. I have always believed in the power of gratitude. I agree with you that we should thank God for all the blessings that He has given us. I also try to incorporate gratitude into my daily life. You might want to consider having a gratitude journal. It has helped me a lot. 🙂
